I'll Take Indecisive for $400, Alex.

For the last two years I knew what M was going to be for Halloween before September even rolled around. This year, it's October 3rd, and we're still not sure.

See, here's the problem, if you give a toddler an option, she'll change her mind a million and one times. And that's exactly what M is doing.

We started with Pirate. She ran around here for weeks yelling, "Argh, matey!" and waving a sword around, until she knocked a lamp over and I took it away from her. Then I convinced her to be a clown. Rainbow suspenders and knee socks, rainbow tutu and squeaker shoes. It was going to be adorable. And she was on board with that for awhile. Then, in true toddler fashion, she changed her mind again.

She briefly wanted to be a witch. I was fully on board with this. I scoured Etsy and Pinterest for inspiration. I even taught her to say, "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!" I was picturing a black tulle skirt, orange and black striped tights, and a sparkly black cape. Oh yes, she was going to be a perfect witch.

But that didn't last long. She briefly wanted to be a fairy. And then she saw a Dorothy costume, and OHMYGAH, THERE'S A TINY DOG! And then that was out the window just as quickly as it came in.

So, we're back to square one. No idea what she's going as for Halloween. Everyone says I should just choose for her, but I want her to like it. I want her to be a part of picking it, after all, it's her costume, and I feel that she's old enough to pick it. The main problem is, I guess I'm just as indecisive as she is.

I just know we're going to have a hard time topping last year's costume, because it was cute!

Hello, October

How is it October already and where did September go!? Wasn't it labor day just last weekend?

Anyway, we've been busy, busy, busy this last week, and we've got so much lined up for the next few weeks, updates may be scarce around here for a little while, but I promise I'll try to pop by a few times a week to say hello!

As far as this week, we've got a little junkin' lined up, as well as Junk Gypsy Prom, and I'm soooooo excited! I'm also working on M's Halloween costume, which I'm making this year, so that's a first.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to make my house all spooky! Happy October, my loves!

they did the monster mash

well hello november, you're looking mighty fine, but i'm trying to figure out where you came from.

everyone says that your babies grow up in the blink of an eye, and i now know it's true. i cannot believe that in two weeks she's going to be 10 months. i'm hyperventilating just thinking about it.

let's put that on the back burner, because i'm not ready to deal with that just yet. let's talk halloween, shall we?

although it didn't go as planned, our halloween was pretty fun. my niece turned 4 yesterday, so we had her birthday party that morning. after that our day was a total whirlwind. we were constantly on the go, but baby butterbean got to show everyone her costume. wanna see what she went as?

my little ladybug

she was definitely a champ. she was dragged all over texas and she hardly complained.

granted, she didn't rock the ladybug look all day. i ordered a custom outfit from cutiepatutus for her to wear during the day and it was extremely adorable!!

my first halloween

overall, i'd say that her first halloween was a giant success! and no one is in a candy coma this morning!

so with october and halloween behind us, it's time to look forward to the holidays! but first?

my birthday!!

it's in one week!! now, if y'all remember, i was planning on partying it up cajun style, but as it turns out, i no longer have a baby sitter, and now it looks like i'll be spending this weekend in the lone star state. maybe i can come up with something that will be just as fun as hanging out in the nola.

alright people, i'm off to think of something to do to celebrate the big 2-5. hope everyone's halloween was spooktacular!! what did y'all do??

boo hoo

friends, i have a problem. this stupid virus has come back to bite me in the ass joints just when i thought i had it taken care of. every joint is swollen and all hurty, which makes it hard to do anything, which means i've hardly been able to lift baby butterbean, much less type the rest of my halloweenie posts!

so i'm surrendering. i'm waving the white flag. i'm giving up on the blog posts for the next few days until i feel better.

hopefully come monday i won't have such a hard time typing and i'll have some extremely adorable pics of baby butterbean's first halloween.

i hope y'all have a spooktacular (and safe!) halloween. eat lots of candy and drink lots of jello shots for me! i'll be on my couch pretending that my anti-inflammatories are actually candy corn.

happy halloween y'all!!!

six days of boo

aaaand it's time for our second installment of the halloweenie posts.

day of boo number two

first of all, i should apologize if this post is a little out there. i broke a tooth a little while ago, so i took a pain pill before i started writing. don't judge me dammit, pregnancy really kicked me in the teeth. literally. i had perfect teeth before, and now? horrible.

but i digress.

back to day two of the boo

let's talk favorite halloween movies, shall we?

now, i have a confession,.... i'm a big ol' baby, y'all. i can't watch a scary movie by myself. i can't even watch ghost hunters alone. but that's not my only confession. i can't watch a scary movie without a blanket so i can hide my face when a really scary part comes on. i know, i'm pathetic.

but i do love scary movies. i love the adrenaline high that you get from watching them. i'm quite the adrenaline junkie, ya know. ok, that's not true, i would be an adrenaline junkie if i wasn't such a scaredy cat.

anyvajazzle, why do i keep getting sidetracked? back to the topic at hand, my top five favorite halloween movies.

5) jeepers creepers

i love this movie. partly because it scares the crap out of me, but mostly because i love me some justin long. even though he gets his skin peeled off. poor guy.

4) the skeleton key

ohmygawdohmygawdohmygawd i love this movie! i randomly search my tv guide a few times a month to see when it's coming on. it's got everything a scary movie should have. plus, it's set in the swamps of louisiana, and everyone knows how much i love the cajun life!

3) the children of the corn

i can't drive past a cornfield without hyperventilating just a bit. that's all i have to say about that.

2) practical magic

not all of my favorites are scary. this has a bit of suspense plus it's a great love story. and i absolutely adore sandra bullock.

1) hocus pocus

this is my all time favorite halloween movie. we watch it every year with a big ol' bowl of popcorn candy corn. i've loved sarah jessica parker since the girls just want to have fun days, and bette midler is absolutely hilarious!

so, that's it. my top five halloween movies. what about y'all? what are your faves? do you have a certain one you watch every year?
